Chili for a cold night

Confession time. Night is the first time that I have ever made chili. I can not believe how easy it was to make.

Now, I will also confess that I had a little help from McCormick's seasoning. But I used my own little spin on this recipe. Also, this was a little on the spicy side. We like things spicy around here -- LOL!
However, you can make it as spicy or non-spicy as you and your family would like.

Now on to the recipe!

The Busy Cooking Momma's Chili
Recipe by The Busy Cooking Momma

You will need:

1 lb ground beef
1 lb hot Italian sausage

1 large onion

2 cans dark red kidney beans
2 cans chili beans in mild sauce

2 cans diced tomatoes (I used spicy red pepper)
2 cans tomato paste

2 jars of sliced mushrooms (1 large/1 small)

2 packages McCormick's Chili seasoning mix.

Directions:

Brown sausage and ground beef in a large pot.

While meat is browning, chop onion. I used 3/4 of the large onion.

Once meat is brown, drain.

Place pot back on burner and add 2 Tbsp of olive oil.  Add onion.

Saute onions with a Tbsp of seasoning.  I used Emeril's seasoning.

Once onions are translucent, add back in beef/sausage mixture. Add remaining ingredients.  Stir until combined.  At this point, I added about 2 tsp of garlic powder.

Simmer until chili is heated through, roughly 10 minutes.

Serve with your favorite condiments and side.

I hope you enjoy!

Love to you all from The Busy Cooking Momma!
