Translation - Three Milk Cake
Another Translation - Absolutely Yummy!
I started making this cake about two years ago
when we began hosting a Latin WV Power Player.
This is a very popular cake in the Latin America community.
So, to bring them a little piece of home, I began making
this cake for the players.
This is an easier version of the cake because it
uses a box cake mix. I also don't know where
this recipe originated from except my friend Brenda
gave it to me.
Tres Leches Cake
1 boxed white cake mix (plus ingredients to make cake)
1 c whole milk or heavy cream (preferable) (I use the cream)
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
12 oz can evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
8 oz whipped desert topping mix (I used the already
prepared desert topping)
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 c whole mix
Spray cake pan with cooking spray
Prepare the cake as directed on the box
While the cake is baking, whisk together 1 cup of cream,
sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla.
When cake is ready, pole holes all over the cake using
a fork. *NOTE* The original recipe said to use a fork.
However, I think it makes the holes WAY to big.
Slowly pour the 3 milk mixture over the cake, giving it
time to absorb, making sure that the entire cake is
moistened by the mixture.
Refrigerate covered for at least 4 hours or
overnight to let the flavors set.
Before serving, prepare the whipped desert topping by
combining the mix, vanilla and 1/2 c milk and beating with
a mixer for 4 minutes.
Spread over the cake and decorate with sprinkles,
berries, or cherries (drying before placing on the cake).
Refrigerator any leftover portions.
