The Busy Cooking Momma Spaghetti Sauce

Spaghetti is a main staple in our household. It has been one of my favorite dishes since I was a child. My dad makes a killer spaghetti sauce. However, no matter how much I have tried, I can not recreate his sauce. So, I made my own recipe.

Over the years, I have tried several different versions of this recipe. I have tweaked and tweaked. Finally, I found the perfect addition to my sauce and have been using this recipe since that time.

You will need the following ingredients:
1 to 2 lbs ground beef
1 box of spaghetti
1 jar of Kroger mushroom spaghetti sauce (or whatever flavor you which. It doesn't have to be mushroom)
1 medium size onion, diced
1 large can of mushrooms, drained
1 can of tomato sauce
3 to 4 Tbsp sriracha sauce

Spices you will need:
Salt
Black Pepper
Garlic Powder
Oregano
Minced Garlic
Italian Seasoning
**NOTE** I do not measure my spices when I make my sauce. If I had to be pinned down to a measurement, I would say about 1 to 2 Tbsp of each ingredient.

In large skillet, brown the ground beef seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

Add the chopped onion to the browning meat.

Once meat is browned, drain the meat and return it to the pan.

Add the following, in order: Spaghetti sauce

Tomato sauce

Sriracha sauce
**NOTE** You can omit the sriracha sauce if you do not want the heat. However, if you have been following for a while, you know we love heat!!

Mix well and then add all the spices and mushrooms. Do not add more garlic powder but a little more salt and pepper.

Stir all ingredients together well and let simmer for 10 minutes.

Serve the sauce over the spaghetti noodles.

Yes, I use jarred spaghetti sauce in my recipe. However, I consider this my recipe because I add other ingredients and don't just serve warmed sauce from the jar. Also, when I make "from scratch sauce," there is only one difference.  I use 2 big cans of tomato sauce and 2 small cans of tomato paste in place of the jar of sauce.

You can use whatever jarred sauce you prefer. Personally, my family and I absolutely LOVE the Kroger
variety. First of all, it tastes much better than all the other brands. Second of all, it is cheaper than the other brands.

I hope you enjoy!

Love to you all from The Busy Cooking Momma!!
