Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Let's talk about stroganoff for a second. How many of you can tell me at least two different ways to prepare this dish? Three? Four? Honestly, I would be curious just how many different ways there are to prepare stroganoff.

When I think about stroganoff, I immediately think about a dish with some type of beef. I know there are other varieties; however, beef stroganoff is the classic in my opinion.

I have tried many different recipes for beef stroganoff in the past. I have created several different versions myself. This time though, I wanted to create a recipe that I could just dump and go. I wanted my slow cooker to do all the work for me. However, I wanted an ingredient in the recipe that could help tenderize the meat just a little bit more. Then it hit me - cola! That would be a perfect tenderizer plus give the dish a little something different in the taste department.

I know you and your family is going to love this twist on a classic.

Now, on to the recipe!

You will need:

2 lbs stew meat
1 1/2 medium onions, sliced
1 16 oz package fresh, sliced mushrooms
1 Family-size can cream of mushroom soup
12 oz can of cola
1 pkg onion soup mix
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
1 16 oz container sour cream
Salt and Pepper
1 pkg egg noodles, cooked

Directions:

In a mixing bowl, mix together cream of mushroom soup,

onion soup mix,

Red pepper flakes,

minced garlic,

and cola.

Place meat into slow cooker and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Top with onions and mushrooms.

Now, pour soup mixture over meat, onions and mushrooms.

Stir to combine all ingredients.

Cook on LOW for 7 hours.

Switch the slow cooker to HIGH and add in the sour cream.

Cook on HIGH for 30 minutes to incorporate the sour cream.

Serve over egg noodles.

This turned out to be so delish! The meat was super tender, the cola gave the dish a wonderful flavor and the creaminess was excellent. I could have soaked a piece of bread in the sauce alone. I was very pleased with the way this dish turned out and my men asked for seconds. That is always a WIN in my book.

I hope you enjoy!!

Love to you all from The Busy Cooking Momma!!
