In case you are not familiar with dump meals, these are meals that can just be dumped into your slow cooker either as is or with a couple small ingredients. These are PERFECT for those busy mornings that you need to get out of the house fast. The casseroles featured have a less than 30 minute cooking time so they are great for those busy nights that it seems like everyone is going many different directions.
Another great thing about freezer cooking is you have a nicely stocked freezer. Because if you are like me, sometimes getting to the grocery store seems impossible. Also, if your budget gets a little tight, you can turn to your freezer stock. It is a win win!!
Here are couple of my tips for preparing to do a freezer stocking session. These have worked for me and I hope they will help you too!
Tip #1 - Purchase good quality gallon size freezer bags, aluminum pans and aluminum foil.
Tip #2 - Write your instructions on the bag or use a label.
By labeling the bags (or aluminum foil wrappings), you do not have to pull out the recipe to determine how to cook the meal. I write if any other ingredients are needed, the cooking time and either HIGH/LOW or oven temperature. I would definitely recommend writing on the bags BEFORE putting the contents in the bag. It makes it SO MUCH easier!
Tip #3 - Start a list of your freezer contents.
In my opinion, this just helps you keep track of what you have in the freezer. It really helps with meal planning and allows you to know when you are getting low on particular meal.
I hope you enjoy this series! I hope you find these recipes delicious and family pleasing. I also hope you end the month with your freezer stocked full for those busy days. If you have any questions as we go along, please let me know.
Love to you all from The Busy Cooking Momma!
